Estates + Probate
The attorneys at Morrow, Gordon & Byrd, Ltd. have a wealth of experience assisting people as they consider providing for their families in the event of an unexpected medical disability or after their death. We have prepared countless powers of attorney, living wills, and health care powers of attorney, wills, trusts (both living and testamentary).
In a durable power of attorney, you appoint a person to act on your behalf and to handle your financial affairs if you suffer a disability which prevents you from carrying on your business affairs. A health care power of attorney permits you to designate a person to make medical decisions for you while you are unable to do so until you recover. If a person reaches a point when medical care has failed a living will permits a representative that you select to work with the doctors to carry out your instructions to allow you to die peacefully.
A will or trust is a critical step in providing for the disposal of assets after a person passes away. We have the expertise and experience to handle the probate administration of an estate from beginning to end at a reasonable cost to the heirs. Death is a difficult time for those who survive, and we are prepared to handle an estate in a timely manner with as little disruption as possible to the heirs, who often have no knowledge of how to administer an estate properly. We prepare the probate forms required, see that all tangible and intangible assets are transferred according to the terms of the will or law, and make certain that the title to any real property is transferred properly. We also prepare all tax returns required to be filed for the estate.
